Seeds and extras
Quality seed mix.
A good quality seed mixture should be the staple diet this should include white millet, red millet, finch millet, canary seed.
Millet Spray
Gouldian’s love millet spray, I found they enjoy the red millet the most, I give this to them at least once a week (if it can be bought)
Condition seed
Regularly fed coming up to the breeding season to maintain condition finches for the breeding season, also given occasionally all year round
Other considerations
Niger, blue maw, dried seaweed
Green food
Cress is the favourite with my birds, I mix it with egg food
Egg shells
Washed thoroughly and microwaved for a minute, valuable calcium supplement coming up to the breeding season
Avigold
Added to the water on all occasions
Aviform Birds - Avi-Mite Red Mite Liquid
Added to the water as per manufacturer’s instructions, can be used with Avigold
Grit and charcoal
Always available, I mix them together and they are in pots on the gale floor
Cuttlefish
Always available
